The GridCard was decided at Wrigley Field Wednesday afternoon--in dramatic GridCard fashion. The Arizona Diamondbacks built a 6-1 lead on the Cubs before gift-wrapping a couple runs for Chicago on an error in the fifth and a strikeout/wild pitch in the sixth. Arizona still led 6-4 in the bottom of the ninth, but Zobrist coaxed a pinch-hit walk and David Bote delivered a clutch, game-tying homer home run to center. The next batter, Anthony Rizzo crushed a Brad Boxberger pitch 453 feet to right center.
Walk-off GridCard Wins are rare, but Jodyann (36) is no stranger to winning. She leads the league with 1585 GridCard points and carries a .568 WWP. This, her sixth Hamlin-Hopper, ties her with Kevin K for second place in Career GG Wins behind Heart of a Hooligan (8). Jodyann also won the GC Week (61) and now has four King Kongs, twice as many as any other Gridder.
Jeepcreeper (24) was two outs away from the KOTM and the KK when Rizzo walked off, the only player--other than Jodyann--who came close to posting a Qualifying Score. Heart of a Hooligan (26) won the PGT but triggered the Rake when he finished short of the QS.
