Both the 49ers and Chiefs get a bye before meeting in Super Bowl LIV next Sunday. But this week's GridCard features plenty of all-star action. On Saturday, after a full slate of NCAAM games, including Illinois @ Michigan, LSU @ Texas, and Kentucky @ Texas Tech--the best hockey players on the planet meet in St Louis.
The NHL All-Star Game has a unique format--three 3-on-3 games: the winner of the Metropolitan Division vs Atlantic Division matchup playing the winner of the Central Division vs Pacific Division, each game--including the Finals--lasting 20 minutes.
The Pro Bowl anchors the GridCard's Second Game, and the NFL is experimenting as well--no kickoffs, and a team can opt to try to retain possession after a touchdown or field goal by converting a 4th-and-15 from its own 25-yard line. NCAAM and NBA basketball round out Grid, highlighted by the Clippers @ Lakers on Tuesday night. The Clippers have won the first two meetings this year.
