Trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the 8th against the Phillies, Daniel Descalso hit a little-league 3-run homer (a triple and a throwing error) to set the Cubs up for a dramatic 4-3 come-from-behind victory. Then in the 9th, the Phillies were down to their last strike when Cub closer Brad Bach broke off a nasty slider and appeared to have struck out Jean Segura. Did he check in time? The first-base umpire thought so. And on the next pitch, Segura checked his swing again, this time blooping a game-tying single into right. After J.T. Realmuto homered in the 10th--it was the Phillies who had the dramatic 5-4 come-from-behind victory.
The Phillies' improbable rally helped Big Sherm (37) a little, but made a GridCard winner of ranvilld12 (42) who cashed-in with the Cubs in two other games and picked the Blues over the Sharks in San Jose. Double OT in the Raptors' 118-112 win over the Bucks miraculously toppled the Over, helping keyz (38) and Rico (35) defeat the ProGrid Tour. KMac (31) posted the only other Qualifying Score, also earning the WPN for beating the pros. Heart of a Hooligan (26) won the PGT but had to cough up a rake for failing to reach a QS.
The King Kong for winning the week went to keyz (70).
