The gutsiest play call Saturday was made by West Virginia's coach, Dana Holgorsen, who opted for the 2-point conversion after Will Grier's 33-yard TD pass to Gary Jennings had pulled the Mountaineers within one of the Longhorns with 16 seconds left. The first attempt--a quick slant to Davis Sills--appeared to be good but was waved off as Texas called time-out. Grier then scrambled to the pylon for the win.
That thrilling finish provided the difference for TheDust (34) who got past Kevin K (33) for the GridCard win. This is The Dust's third Hamlin-Hopper and his second in the last five games. Both Kevin K and TheDust picked up WPNs for defeating the ProGridTour--which was won by MW (32) who took down MMc (31) and Teunesto (29) on the strength of Duke's upset of Miami.
The GridCard played as tight as a retired NFL lineman in skinny jeans. No other player managed a Qualifying Score.
