The showcase match-up of the first weekend of March Madness has to be North Carolina @ Duke on Saturday night. Both the Tarheels and Blue Devils were upset last week, UNC losing to Miami 91-88 on a half-court shot by Ja’Quan Newton and Duke losing to Virginia Tech 64-63 on a last second put-back by Chris Clarke.
On February 8th, UNC prevailed @ home versus Duke 82-78, Joel Berry scoring 21 and Kenny Williams adding 20. Virginia has already wrapped up the ACC title, but Saturday’s showdown may affect NCAA tournament seedings for Duke and UNC.
The Big Ten Tournament kicks off a week earlier than last year. And as with all upcoming tournament action the Over/Under will be the bet. The Info Buttons have PPG data for the top teams, the ones mostly likely to reach the finals. Revisit the GridCard as the week progresses as the GCC (GridCard Commissioner) updates and fills in teams as they advance. The lines, however, will be locked in on Thursday @ noon as usual.
The Academy Awards make a brief appearance on the GridCard Ticker. Choose Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri or The Shape of Water to win the Oscar for Best Picture or stay off and root for a dark horse like Get Out.
