Minnesota, TCU, Wisconsin, Baylor, and Syracuse were all underdogs going into their bowl games, and all came away with straight-up wins. But of all the bowl games played in the Second Game last week, it was the bowl that wasn't played that decided who was King of the Mountain on the GridCard.
The First Responder Bowl featuring Boise State and Boston College was cancelled due to lightning which settled in around Dallas on Wednesday. SERVPRO--the title game's sponsor who paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to put its name on the bowl--probably won't be reimbursed but has received loads of free publicity due to the cancellation. Its slogan--Like it never happened--is strangely appropriate for the teams involved--but on the GridCard it made KDet047 (44) the winner over Heart of a Hooligan (41). KDet047 picked up his second GridCard win and the lone WPN as the only player to defeat the ProGrid Tour which was taken down by Hooligan who now leads the PGT with one week remaining.
The GridCard played tough, allowing only three other Qualifying Scores: btninja (35), Big E (31) and TheDust (36)--who won the King Kong in back-to-back weeks, a true GridCard rarity.
