The first full week of college football starts Saturday with several key matchups--many of them at neutral sites. The best early game pits Ole Miss against Texas Tech in what should be a high-scoring shootout. Later, Washington and Auburn meet in Atlanta to answer the question, Is it better to schedule a competitive non-conference opponent or a sure-win cupcake? The SEC's Tennessee will be an underdog to the Big 12's West Virginia when they clash in Charlotte at Bank of America Stadium. And it's the ACC versus the PAC 12 when North Carolina travels to California.
In the late games, Louisville will be a 3TD+ dog against Louisville at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando. Same for Akron when they take on the Cornhuskers in Nebraska's home opener. But the most anticipated game plays out in South Bend where the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Michigan Wolverines renew their rivalry after a four year hiatus. Both Brian Kelly and Jim Harbaugh are feeling job pressure after their initial success was followed by disappointing--albeit solid--seasons. This game will set the tone for both teams, and the winner will be positioned to make a run at the playoffs. Westgate Superbook and the MGM Mirage currently list this as a pick 'em game.
Football has pushed NASCAR to the Ticker. The Bojangles Southern 500 runs at Darlington Speedway on Sunday. The NFL season gets underway on Thursday when the Falcons play the World Champion Philadelphia Eagles. And the GridCard's Second Game finishes up on Friday night with TCU @ SMU.
