Dominic Thiem beat Rafael Nadal last year in Rome and earlier this year in Madrid--the only player to defeat Rafa on clay in the last two seasons. But none of that mattered Sunday as Nadal captured the French Open in straight sets 6-4, 6-3, and 6-2, and equaled Margaret Court's record for most wins at one major--eleven. The French Open Final had very little drama--quite the opposite of the Belmont Stakes where Justify became the 13th Triple Crown winner in the Belmont's 150 year history, finishing under the 2:30:00 GridCard line to give dkropf (44) the win over summerman (40) by 1.82 seconds. In only nine games, dkropf has two second place finishes, a King Kong in Week 10 and now his first GridCard Win.
Adding to the excitement at The Belmont was Hofburg nosing out Vino Rosso to finish in the money and shift 126 GridCard points, most notably Heart of a Hooligan's (9) to tie him with MMc (31) for the ProGrid Tour Win. Several players took advantage of the short-handed PGT to earn a WPN (Who's the Pro Now?). Jeepcreeper (39), Gm44 winner EricCinTX (36), Ricco1947 (34), KDet047 (32), Ace (32), and csmorgan71 (32) all defeated the ProGrid Tour. The GridCard allowed 13 Qualifying Scores, including kjh98 (31), mac (30), and dangerzone (29).
