Pro Bowl Week Preview
The biggest match-up of the weekend has to be the clash between #2 Virginia (19-1) and #4 Duke (17-2) at Cameron on Saturday. The Cavaliers are undefeated in the ACC and have reeled off 11 straight wins after losing on the road to West Virginia 68-61. The Blue Devils have been upset twice in the ACC, losing at NC State and BC, but they are undefeated at home and looking to pull back within a game of Virginia. Last year, when Duke visited Virginia, Coach K ’s team came away with a 65-55 win.
Texas A&M (13-6) visits #5 Kansas (16-4) in one of several clashes between Big 12 and SEC teams. The Aggies appear to have righted the ship after a five game losing streak. Kansas lost at #12 Oklahoma on Tuesday 85-80.
In other Big 12 Saturday SEC action, #7 West Virginia (16-4) hosts Kentucky (14-5) which fell out of the Top 25 for the first time in almost four years. And TCU (15-5) travels to Vanderbilt (7-13). Oklahoma State (13-6) goes to Arkansas (14-6) and #12 Oklahoma (15-4) visits Alabama (13-6). Baylor (12-8) @ Florida (14-4) is also part of the crossover Big12/SEC Challenge.
The Big 12 has the highest Sagarin Power Ranking of all the conferences at 86.09. The SEC is ranked 4th at 82.68.
Of course, the Pro Bowl is anyone's guess. A few years back the game had devolved into two-hand touch. At least, the NFL isn't doing a schoolyard Shirts and Skins All-Star Game like the NBA with the LeBron and Steph Show--or like the NFL did 2 years ago when (Michael) Team Irvin defeated (Jerry) Team Rice 49-27.
