MLB's doubleheader sweep percentages vary each year--from a low of 34% in 2017 to high of two-thirds (67.86%) in 2003. That said, DH sweeps don't appear to be happening as often, down again this year to 40.54% (according to MLBSweeps.com), a 17% drop over three seasons.
The rare GridCard twin bill between the Guardians and White Sox followed the trend, Cleveland winning the first game 7-4 and Chicago rallying late to take the nightcap 5-4. Josh Naylor was the hero for the Guardians with a pinch hit single in the ninth. AJ Pollock's two-out single in the eighth lifted the Pale Hose.
The Senior Open created GridCard opportunities, and the ProGrid Tour took advantage, taking the top three spots and half the Top Ten. MMc (44) edged dangerzone (43), and Teunesto (42), the PGT putting up triple TallBoys. This was MMc's third Hamlin-Hopper of the year.
